Like your video’s a lot. What i’m missing in your shop is an pipeline around the workshop with air pressure and several outlets. Let the compressor sit at a particular spot and have the option to plug in tools at several spaces.

The oil filter wrench set also had one for your Volvo possibly? My T5 XC70 has the paper filter inside the plastic cup with one of those obnoxious filter socket damn things.

It's awesome to see some organised tools. But the Oil-filter-cup-set is really the worst. I bought this exact set here in Germany und got to use 2 cups, which aren't even fitting 100%. We mostly switched back to the old leather strap and a pipe wrench for the extreme cases.

The only thing I don’t like about my socket trays like that is that they do get dirty and unsightly. Luckily the bottom is a catch for oil and grease, but I do find myself cleaning them every once in a while.

Every socket set should come with extra 3/8, 7/16 and 10 mm sockets. It seems these are the ones that always seems to get lost somewhere and you end up digging through your junk socket drawer trying to find one. Those choker slings are indispensable when it came to lifting huge 6 ft.+ hydraulic cylinders out of industrial cardboard Balers and industrial Trash Compactors.

Your socket organizers suck. You need to go buy the Olsa socket tray. Yes, they are more expensive but solid organization is everything. The big plus with Olsa is the POWERFUL magnet within the tray. When you're working under a car, nothing sucks more than having to make multiple trips back to your toolbox to get the correct socket. With Olsa, you just pull out the tray and stick it to the undersize of your car and the sockets will still hang them upside down like little bats. Plus when you're finished using a socket, you can immediately put it back into the tray, which dramatically cuts down on missing sockets.

I freed up so much space in my socket drawer when I realized there is no reason to keep standard handy. My standards are organized and stuffed in a drawer that wasn't used along with standard box wrenches. I think my next socket trays will be Westling Machine metal trays. Hope your dad is doing well!

If you want to use those trays with the bit sockets just cut the peg off down to the square base. You can also do this when a socket won't fit the peg. Tekton sells labels for trays for like $3.

If you are thinking of junking those Home Depot Husky sockets and but don't want to pay tool truck prices here is some advice from experience. Don't buy the new Craftsman ones. They are not the quality of the ones you used years ago..period! Take a look at Tekton sockets (or whatever) at there web site. They come in 6 or 12 point no skip sets (your choice) and are available in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drive. The sets include both regular and deep within the set. Yes they cost a little more than Craftsman, but here is the kicker. If you create an account (which is free) on their web site and any purchase you make through the account, Tekton will give you a 10% credit for the amount you spend to your account. You can accumulate $$ and use it towards future purchases. And the shipping is free (usually 2 day from my experience). Check out the 3 drive combo set in the link: Notice no fillers; just socket, ratchets, extensions, breaker bar, swivels and size adaptor. Had to use their warranty once. I received two 11mm wrenches (missing the 12mm). I went on line, filled out the replacement request along wit a pic of the two 11mm wrenches. In 48 hours after I sent in the replacement request I received the 12mm from them and they didn't even asked for the extra 11mm back.

I have the same HF tool cart and the HF version of those socket holders - but they have 1/2, 3/8, and 1/4 drive. I hit the same problem trying to run them front to back, and ended up with them just like you have. Except my old Craftsman 3/8 drive sockets that have a rubber grip ring are too wide to fit!

Good points about 12 pt sockets... I haven't bought any 12pts in so long I forgot they exist. Not trying to dump on you because I think you have the right idea, but for me, these are a better solution: They store sockets in a very similar fashion, but they have magnetic bases so you can take them to where you are working and save yourself multiple trips back to the toolbox, and when you're done you put the socket back in its spot so they stay organized whenever you aren't using them, and they come in a rainbow of colors. You can get them through other sellers as well, but Olsa makes them. Oh! And the magnetic base also holds the sockets in place, in case that wasn't apparent, and they are strong enough to hold all the sockets in there with the holder completely inverted, but not so strong that they are difficult to remove.

That is TOTAL garbage the way that socket set is laid out. Agreed the Craftsman tool sets are laid out in a way more logical manner, mine has three drawers, each laid out by 1/2, 3/8 and 1/4 drive. Bought that for like $250, MSRP $350-400 back in 2009 when the local Sears was going out of business(whole mall was a ghetto wasteland lol). Probably spent close to $700 at that going out of business Sears on tools they had marked down in that month.
