Borrowing a truck every time I needed to pull a trailer across the country was getting old. So I found the cheapest loaded 2018 Ford F-250 Platinum I could and headed out to buy it immediately at a CarMax 3 hours away. I wasn't planning on adding a warranty but with the possibly of each repair on a diesel truck costing thousands I added the MaxCar bumper-to-bumper warranty. Now that I've got a hauler with a warranty I can't wait to go pick up more cars and not worry about a break down costing a fortune.

WatchJRGo The front axle doesn’t have a locker. The locking hubs are a backup for the vacuum auto hubs which engage when you turn the knob into 4WD.

Beware, car max has many petitions against them, they have vehicles with manufacturers recalls, and don’t take them in to get fixed! People that have bought from them have been hurt and killed because they don’t maintain their cars! These petitions go back years!

You can also more than likely roll down and roll up the windows using the key fob. I know newer Lincoln’s can and they use the same exact key fob.

Since I didn't see it in the video, depending on the noise the motor is making.. It may be "typewriter tick", Ford has a bulletin about it. It's a noise as they specify every diesel makes, just older ones you could never tell because everything else was louder. On that note, I've had it on my 6.7, it's super common after an oil change. It typically quiets up after about 1k miles after the oil change. And to know it's typewriter tick, it will be a noticeable sound.. but very inconsistent, unlike rod knock or an exhaust leak.

WHO takes possession of a car from ANY dealer while it has a check engine light on? ESPECIALLY when you have NO idea what it was indicating and on top of it it had a bad tick! That two strikes right there for me. And those extended warranties need to be read thoughly, especially the whats covered and not covered definitions..... Real sneaky, colorful language used that literally leaves them an out for it to be a NON COVERED repair. Wish you good luck and safe travels

The spare key in the centre console is a lot smaller so if the giant key is an issue for you I'm sure you could just use the spare. Yes, you might not have the auto start/stop with the spare key but those features are gimmicky anyway.

Car max is always a hit and miss but I’ll never purchase a car from there as my dad is repo man and sometimes rips the cars in park when there’s a confrontation and it puts a lot of straining on the transmissions. But nice truck you got there.

Oof that code is bad one. Dpf low efficiency. In simple terms the dpf is likely cracked and soot is bypassing throughout the exhaust and the soot sensor is detecting soot where soot is not suppose to be . Now if the unit has new fuel lines and maybe a fuel pump then 2 conditions can make this happen like the high pressure fuel pump exploded and metal shaving when through out system and punched some small holes in the dpf or the high pressure fuel pump over fuel and dumped too much fuel in the engine and causing the dpf to overheat and cracked. I have seen both happen. Now the fix is simple a new DPF now the light duty diesels like 6.7 ford 6.6 duramax and 6.7 cummins the emissions system is a 1 piece unit. Doc, dpf, decomp tube and scr. Vs on semi's each item is replaceable. At dealer cost 10k is not out of the question for a new dpf for the ford, again 1 piece unit.

I bet the factory bedliner has a “FORD” emblem on the front (like the F-150). I’m no expert, but I bet it’s either aftermarket or DIY and they didn’t sand the bed down good. I had my F-150 bed color matched to the Ingot Silver by Line-X. It looks fantastic, and maybe even has a bed rail to bed rail warranty... nice rig.

Having never owned a large truck (nothing bigger than a 1500), I am considering an F250... I currently own an 08 GMC 1500 4wd. How difficult are they to live with day to day? How much more difficult are they to navigate in a parking lot than a 4wd 1500? I really want the 6.7 diesel! But, I'm thinking it may be "too much truck" to use as a daily driver...
