The $2,800 Silverado FLIP Is COSTING Way MORE Than I Expected

I bought a 2010 Chevy Silverado that runs and drives for $2,800. It's taken days of work to get it mostly straightened out and I still have the two big things to fix, the fender and the transmission. I spent the ENTIRE day running all over the city to pick up the truck, parts, and supplies. Then moved the parts to all the places they needed to be to get the job done. Some days it really feels like you got nothing done but all these things have to be done to finish the job. The total cost hasn't been added up yet but it's probably close to the $8,000 I expect to sell the truck for.

Go on Amazon and the 2 replacement remotes and 2 replacement keys for $26 and program it yourself for free without a computer. It literally takes about 2 minutes

If you are planning to sell that truck after a new quarterpanel, all codes cleared, detailed, and a new transmission installed I'll drive my ass to Kansas City from Nawth Kakalaki to buy it! With almost no new trucks on a lot of lots due to the COVID19 closures people are paying WAY more thank I think is a reasonable market for used trucks. I think you can get above 8K when done easy. (Just my opinion based on internet prices. Your mileage may vary.)

Yeah any real mechanic would tell you that... this era of Silverado is junk. If someone priced this around $2800 there is some MAJOR issues (most common on these is a collapsed lifter that requires a top-end rebuild). If you think you can get a "newer" pick up for under $3000, run. Nine times out of ten, there is a major issue and the person just wants to get something for it and not give it away. In legit good shape, these should go for around $10000+ for a standard cab V8 and more for the crew and if it has 4WD.

YOU NEED TO USE A HOT FLUSH MACHINE ON THE TRANS COOLER! A BOTTLE OF COOLER KLEEN WILL NOT BE EFFECTIVE. THE TRANS WILL FAIL WITHIN A MONTH IF YOU DONT HOT FLUSH IT AND WARRANTY WILL BE WORTHLESS

It triggers me to see people doing things backwards. For example putting a new headlight on a busted fender when said headlight has to be removed again to install the fender. Also detailing a truck that will have to be re-detailed after the rest of the work is done. It just doesn't make any sense.

Could have picked up a factory color matched fender from any PRP affiliated yard for about $150 from any yard in the country and just bolted it on. They ship National for free to any affiliated yard, with a warranty on most mechanical parts.

Because I was in Chicago for a week and I knew detail would need multiple days, they had it for a week and change. When the fender comes back Tuesday I'll install it have the truck sold Tuesday night... Timing is everything. 🍻
