Ever wondered how oil companies increase well production in oil fields? Using an 11 million BTU steam generator of course. This a tour and test run of a Flexsteam built completely in house by American Control and Engineering Service. The steam generator runs on multiple fuels, and turns water into steam that warms the crude oil and increases oil well output.

I think that flow meter is a coriolis meter. I recognize the Rosemount meters, VFDs and the Allen Bradley PLC.

When I saw the title I thought it was a steam powered generator, not a generator of steam. It's amazing how much engineering and tech goes into something as "simple" as generating steam. This was very cool, thanks for making it.

decades ago when i rented my apartment. i had to fill out a rental agreement after i moved in actually.. on the back of the application.. it ask do you have or play any musical instruments.. i wrote down steam calyopee a few days later.. the rental lady called and ask what a steam calyopee was.. i said.. ever seen a mississippi river boat.. yes.. they have a steam organ on the top.. that's a steam calyopee .. she said.. you have a WWWHHHHAAAATTT in your apartment.. i said.. i don't have one.. i just wrote that to see if anybody actually read the whole application.

Isn't there an issue in pointing a high flow steam machine directly into a big tank of propane? I hope every one is alive, still; but that was not a good idea, I guess. Great work on the steam machine, and excellent video demonstrating it. Cheers.

wow.....brought me back to my Navy days aboard the USS Saratoga !!! I worked in elevator gang and took care of the aircraft elevators which were driven by by steam from our 4 1200lb boilers which also turned our turbo generators that powered the ship.......steam would push a giant horizontal 7' piston which pulled 16 cables that moved the aircraft elevator up and down between flight deck and hanger bay......also 480. !!!! Great video ....thanks !!! Your Dad's a hoot.......he sure loves what he does .......and it shows in you JR !!!

Interesting runs on multi-fuels reminded of the M35A2 (6x6) intended primarily for diesel, but aviation fuel (kerosene), alcohol, gas (with oil mix). 2:21 Those do look like Emerson Electric Micro Motion flow meters (5700). Amazing controls allow you to run an entire plant: paper mill, tank farm, or bakery from an office.

We’ve looked into it. Just getting the insurance for building antique show boilers is north of half a million. You’d have to have a full time crew on just antique boilers.

That's definitely a pretty cool way to get old high-flow Wells to start moving more oil, Plus I'm wondering are they using this type of device to help get shale oil out of the ground easier? I work on landfill gas systems with leachate evaporators and it’s a pretty similar system. They use the incoming landfill gas (methane) to heat the water that gets pumped from the hill to boil it off instead of trucking the leachate offsite to a treatment plant.

Well I work with clean steam and the generator is a fraction of the size but the theory is the same. The difference is that to make it clean it goes thru a series of filters that purifies it. And also learned that steam generator (aka boilers for some people) are super dangerous and can kill a person due to pressure and heat.

Boilers can blow up and kill people, yes. Steam generators are significantly different. There is actually no possibility of this generator blowing up due to the fact that there is no large volume of water or steam being stored inside the vessel and also it’s not a closed loop, the back is open and it’s always relieving pressure. The only thing that ever happens to these is if you run them in too much superheat you’ll blow a hole in one tube and that’s the end of it. It’s not dramatic at all.

Everyone calls what they can see steam, it is not. Steam is a gas and as such is invisable. What you see is condensate.

You are correct, there is steam in what’s coming out the back but it’s VERY wet steam. We never actually made quality in this whole video. When you’re making quality out the back you can see through it.
