It's a joke, but I read the thousands of comments and decided to keep the original parts. This car is getting LS swapped and staying that way forever but it'll be 10x the car and I'm going to drive it everywhere when it's done. We're using the completely bolt-in Holley swap kit so the car isn't being modified in any permanent way, and honestly I never get tired of seeing swapped 1st gen Camaros!
Now I've got 2 weeks to have this ready for LS Fest East, let's make it happen. www.lsfest.com/bowling-green/

Are you afraid the police will watch your videos and arrest you? Something something evidence something something warrants and due process of law

If you feel the only way you can drive an old car is after it's been LS swapped. You really should undestand that old cars just arent for you. Be happy with your late model Camaro and leave the old Camaros for the people who really care about the them

I realize that this was the last unmolested Camaro on the planet but the "keep it original" commenters need to stop watching AM-posts, throw away their computers & cell phones, buy a rotary phone to hang on the kitchen wall, and head down to the typing pool to look at the new '67 that one of the girls bought.

There should be numbers on the little surface in front of the passenger side head. It will have the last 8 of the vin to tell if the block is original. Then numbers are punched in so they can be hard to find if any oil/dirt is on that surface. They don't pop up like the casting numbers do.

We have the technology. We can make it better than it was. Better...stronger...faster! Build it the way you want to build it! Ignore the trolls. I guess they think it's okay to replace every original body panel, including the floors and trunk, and then replace the factory windshield and all the other factory parts, but don't you dare replace the engine! lmao! Build your car the way you want it built. And if there's someone that just can't handle it, then tell them to buy it from you the way it is for $35k. and keep it all factory in their garage. lol.

I will never understand the numbers matching obsession but it does mean something to collectors. The same mob would not approve of improved cross members and suspension upgrades. A proper conversion will not be readily reversible, but go for it anyway. 200hp in a car of that size is embarrassing....

There are tons of Camaro's out there of that era, so keeping it original is no big deal. It's just the choice of a "common boring LS" I don't understand.... why not a vintage 396, or something else interesting and cool to look at. Cars of that era, didn't have the handling and suspension for lots of power. There meant to have a inline six, or small V-8. The original engines of that era are very reliable, if there set up to factory specs. I guess with the LS, you can weld the hood shut, as you will never need to open it.... At least your saving the car, no mater what you power it with. Great channel, keep up the good videos. Been subscribed for a few years now.

You will want to do some work on the front suspension. It's garbage on the 1st gen cars. Negative caster, backwards camber curve due to ridiculously short spindles, etc. If you ever want to turn a corner without killing yourself you need at least a beefy front sway bar to keep the thing from rolling over on the outside front tire. Wide front tires roll OUT on compression and will pinch on the outer fender lip. You will be in for some bad surprises if you leave it stock with wide tires.

This is a good example of a Gem having the wrong owner. There's plenty of resources to put this jewel back to it's original status and still run, perform and look equal or better and will bring up the value, and yes the car is yours, kill it if you want. Think, how many of this matching numbers are out there for penny's.

Save time and money. Just by a complete new repop body shell and weld your section of the firewall with the VIN plate onto it. if done right it is undetectable. Is it moral? Well, if you replace the fenders, floors, dash, quarters, roof, trunk and doors, what original part of the car is left? Basically the firewall and some of the body bracing. So who's to say what's still original? Swap firewalls onto a new shell and be done with it.

V=V8 made in Flint, MI - 12=DEC - 14=14th day - ME= 327 ci 210 hp. The 1's can look like an I because they interchanged them. But that is a 327 assembled in Flint on Dec 14th of 1967. The VIN should be on the same stamp pad unless the motor was decked or it was a replacement engine.

From your reading of the #'s you found on the block, I strongly suspect it is the original motor. V1214ME is a standard 210 hp 2 barrel 327 with automatic, built at the Flint V8 plant on December 12, 1966. In 1967, The lowest horsepower engine that would have had the car's vin # stamped on it was the 350 in the SS 350 and all higher horsepower engines, so you won't find any serial # on the engine or transmission anywhere. 2 small block part #'s used for 1967 is the block you found #3892657 & 3903352. That same block # was used also for the L30 327, L 48 350, and also on the 1967 Z-28 so don't just through it away. There is a casting date also in the same area as the block #. No matter how uninteresting some of the parts may seem, there is a strong market for all original 1st generation Camaro parts, no matter how small. I also own a 1967 Camaro RS that was also sold at Van Chevrolet and I don't live too far away from you. Mine is originally an L30 4 barrel 275 hp 327 with a 3-speed manual and is Bolero Red and almost all original. You should post a picture of the cowl tag as that will denote when & where the car was built and option codes denoting what it was originally equipped with.

I worked on cars for a long time and did it for a living long enough to end up with 7 ASE certs. I have no desire to own an "original" muscle car. If I owned one it would end up with a fuel injected LS along with modern disc brakes and adjustable suspension all around. I've driven enough "original" and "restored" cars to know that there are a million reasons we don't build them like that anymore. It's a modernized resto-mod street car for me no matter what the car is or how much it's worth. If I wanted to keep it original I would just sell it to some idiot who will park it in their garage and never drive it. If you want to invest in something buy stocks or real estate. If you buy a car, make it how you want it and drive the wheels off of it. Collectors who just buy cars and let them sit in a garage are not automotive enthusiasts or car lovers. They are just looking for an investment hoping it will go up in value and they can cash out eventually. The ones who own and operate museums open to the public are different. I respect the hell out of those guys. The jerkoffs who buy cars and park them hidden away for 30 years are morons. Had a neighbor who wouldn't sell me a 69 Mustang Mach 1 back about 20 years ago. He wanted $5000 for it. It was fairly complete but it was just sitting and rusting away. He wanted me to guarantee I would restore it to original condition if he sold it to me. I told him I wasn't going to do that and he decided not to sell it to me. That car sat and rusted until it was too far gone to save and it ended up getting crushed and recycled into beer cans about 5 years ago. It was sad to watch it loaded onto the mobile crusher and flattened then stacked up with a bunch of other junked cars. Anyone who tells you "numbers matching, blah blah blah, keep it original" are morons. They don't understand how much that costs and how little actual performance you will get out of the car when it's done. You can spend $100,000 getting a 67 Camaro back to showroom condition or you could spend $40,000 and make it competitive against new Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaros, and Chargers/Challengers. I've done both and keeping it original is not worth the time and expense of tracking down what you need in order to keep it correct with the build sheet. It's damn near impossible on a lot of vehicles. If you go original you will have a heavy and slow car that handles like hot garbage and won't want to stop quickly no matter how hard you smash that brake pedal. It's your car, screw everyone else and do what you want. If you are going to drive it and want it to be enjoyable then mod it up. Driving 1960s cars with 1960s technology sucks. A 2008 Toyota Prius can drive circles around a restored original 67 Camaro all day long on any stretch of road. They were good for the time but so was the Ford Model T 100 years ago, that doesn't mean it's a good car that's enjoyable to drive in 2020.
