Tearing The WRECKED Subframe Out Of My 350Z And RAIDING A G35 For The New One

I bought a 2003 Nissan 350Z for $1,500 that should've found a new home in a salvage yard. It came with two engines and tons of parts so it seemed like a straightforward deal. Drag it home, swap the engines after installing all the new parts, go drifting in my cheap new car. Then I got it in the air and found out just how bad it could be. This is truly peeling back the onion and finding tons and tons of problems, probably more than any BMW. Once the subframe swap is complete I can install the new engine, but not without another fight.

Remove that stock oil "cooler" and install a real 25 row oil cooler if you are going to be drifting. Your bearings will thank you.

This just dawned on me. An extension shouldn't affect the torque value. If the wrench clicks or beeps at desired value that means torque is transmitted to bolt/nut even if the extension twists.

You guys trash the M5 but after seeing your channel and others seems your spending more money on other brands? I have had my 2006 M5 spent $5,000 in repairs since owning have 206,000 km on odometer bearing are fine you must always warm oil before putting in M or driving hard. I love my v10 kicks ass have gone 330km several times.

Water pump on my parents 92 maxima with the ve30de started leaking after about 25 years and 100k miles so I replaced it. Pretty good run

When are you getting any engine stand? The engine is not swinging around while wrenching, and working with a suspended load is dangerous.

Great work so far. I have no clue why Nissan cut corners with VQ engine after they made the older 30DE models. Those were the very definition of bulletproof and smooth.

Do the valves leak on VQs that frequently? I drove my 350Z for 20-30K miles and never had a single drop of oil on my driveway. Maybe it’s a non-HR issue only?

Love your videos but I have one question, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO GET BACK TO WORK ON YOUR 67 CAMERO RESTORATION? And yes I'm an older classic car guy if you haven't figured it out yet, 😎, I mean you can ALWAYS give me your Camero and I can do the restoration on it lol! 😁 I use to have a 67 Camero along with a few other classics I use to restore or race so when you got that car I was really interested in what you planned to do with it, I know you said your going to restore the inside back to stock and I really appreciate you not wanting to ruin it like all these idiots do with there classics and take all of the originality away from the car, don't get me wrong, I'm not against improving any car, even a classic, but only up to a certain degree, but classics are becoming more and more rare these days so when someone butchers a classic and the only thing left that is original is MAYBE the body or quarter panel, you can't really call it a classic anymore, just another Frankenstein project. I need some more details on the bristle disc. Does it have to be used with a die grinder or can it be used for a drill? Also, how do they attach to the tool? We have been trying to remove an old oil pan gasket for days now.

You should replace the large o-rings that seal the water pump to the block. The pump may last forever but the o-rings will harden and start leaking. Also seals on the oil cooler should be replaced.

Those marks inside the oil pan are marks from the mold being old and showing wear. Nissan is being cheep and not switching molds. Its called heat check and for now its only cosmetic.

Can confirm, Nissan water pumps are bullet proof. I've got 270,000 miles on my M35x and still the original water pump.
